Crane Humidifier TroubleshootingUpdated 7 months ago

Are you having trouble with your Crane Humidifier?  We're here to help.

Generally issues with humidifiers not performing as expected are due to 3 issues:

  • The incorrect adapter plug is being used
  • There is water in the motor from the humidifier not being emptied correctly or carried with water in the base
  • The nebuliser needs cleaning or the unit has not been re-assembled correctly

Check the plug:

You may see the lights on your humidifier operating but there is no mist coming out. This could be because not enough power is getting to the motor to operate it correctly. All of the Crane humidifiers run on a 24 voltage plug.

Please check you are using the plug supplied with your humidifier rather than a random plug from the dreaded 'electrical box' that we all have in our hall cupboard.

You can also buy a replacement humidifier plug here: https://thesleepstore.com.au/brand/crane/crane-humidifier-spare-parts-plug-adaptor .This one is for the 4 in 1, Drop, Droplet or Mini Adorable. If you have a different model or need further help with the plugs please reach out to us.

Water in the Motor:

Your humidifier needs to be carried carefully without water in the base, and also emptied in the direction of the arrow or instruction on the base of your humdifier. If these steps are not followed, you may end up with a little water in the motor and your humdifier will not work for a while.

Please thoroughly dry your humidifer for a couple of days and you should find that it will opeate as normal once the machine has dried out internally. You can either remove the tank and place the base of the machine in a warm, dry spot for 48+ hours, or we do recommend taking a hair dryer on the lowest, coolest setting from a distance to the air vent on the side of the base to dry this out quicker.

Cleaning your nebuliser and reassembling the machine

When the Crane Humidifier stops misting, this could mean there is dirt or dust on the nebuliser, this can resolved by giving the nebuliser and the unit itself a really good clean with a cloth or light brush.

Please refer to our website in the Materials and Care guide for humidifiers there is a thorough guide on how to deep clean/disinfect the item with diluted vinegar.

Once the unit has dried out thoroughly please follow the assembly guide from your product manual to put it all back together correctly. In particular please check that the red seal on the bottom of the tank cap is in place and is sitting flat, any springs are operating correctly to ensure the flow of water from the tank into the base and that he float is able to move freely in the base to control water levels.
